The strongest applications are built around one project the student genuinely cares about. We help build that — in whatever field they're into — and aim it at something real.
What makes a passion project stand out
Admissions officers read thousands of applications from students who "started a nonprofit" or "built an app." The projects that stick in their memory are the ones that are clearly the student's own idea, do something real, and show a level of depth that can't be faked.
Our mentors have built a virtual chemistry lab now used in real schools and universities, a study platform with thousands of questions and users, and software tools that other students actually use. We know what a finished project looks like — and how to help a student get there.
What this includes
- Help finding the right project idea — something genuinely the student's own, not a template
- Scope definition: what the project will do, who it's for, and what "done" looks like
- Week-to-week execution support: code reviews, design feedback, research guidance, whatever the project needs
- Mentors with real builds in the same domain (CS, science, social impact, creative fields)
- Help thinking through how to present the project in applications and essays
- Guidance on publishing, launching, or sharing the project in a way that creates evidence
Who this is for
Students who have an interest area but don't know how to turn it into something concrete. Or students who have a vague idea but need someone to help them scope and execute it. Works best with students in 9th–11th grade who have at least 6–12 months before applications.
